NPO Update – no update

Code Compliance Update: Officer Mata continuing to service our area and working in conjunction with local NPO’s.  Mostly high grass complaints this month, not a lot to report.  Send questions/concerns to: Customer Care at 817-392-1234 or 1234@fortworthtexas.gov, OR, Javier.mata@fortworthtexas.gov.  Please always be sure to include the address of the area of concern so that your email gets sent to the appropriate person.

City councilwoman, Ann Zadeh:  If you need to report poor street conditions, go to the TPW page. http://fortworthtexas.gov/tpw/services/  To report flooding or dangerous street conditions such as trees or other obstacles on city streets, hazardous potholes, traffic signal malfunctions, damaged street lights or traffic signs, call TPW Customer Service at 817-392-8100.  To report problems online go to: http://fortworthtexas.gov/report/  It is important to report street concerns as you see them, the city compiles these issues so they can prioritize funds accordingly when bonds com up.

Board Updates:

Bob Fain, Director of Finance – working with Melanie to get everything turned over and he will have a full update for us available at the next membership meeting

Promotions, Sean Ford – Always needing volunteers!  Do you have high schoolers needing to complete service projects, send them Sean’s way, promotions@historicfairmount.com.  We are in danger of losing some events, such as Festivus, if you are interested in chairing this event, please contact Sean.

Safety, Steve Voltmann – if you are in the 1300 blocks of the neighborhood, on Henderson, Adams, Washington, College, Alston or Lipscomb,  you should have received a flyer with details on how to utilize the services of the Safer Southside Alliance.  Also, National Night out is coming up on 10/2/2018, it will be held at the Trimble’s residence at 1800 Washington Ave from 6-8 pm.  Fairmount Citizens on Patrol will supply chicken fajitas. All other guests, please bring a salad, vegetable, or dessert large enough for your family and to share.  Lemonade and water will be supplied. (NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED)  Bounce house for the kiddos! Come meet local police and fire fighters!

Michael McDermott, Preservation – Several cases this month of resident’s replacing original windows with vinyl windows.  These were not approved in advance and will require restoration to approved windows.  Please contact a Board member if you have questions about what is allowed in remodeling of your home, and what requires a permit. The City has some information on their website: http://fortworthtexas.gov/news/2016/03/building-permits/, and you can always attend the Preservation Palaver hosted monthly at the Fairmount Community Library, hosted by Martin Dahl.

Membership, Deanna Stuart: the October Social will be held at the Worley residence, and has a Mad Hatter theme.  2008 Fairmount, 6:30-8:30 pm. Launch Halloween with all of our EEEKStra special neighbors! Stylish headgear (hats, glasses, lampshades) encouraged.  Apps. Beer. Wine.  You don’t have to be a member to attend, but you can always sign up at any FNA event!  Please, no kids at our spook-tacular event!

Infrastructure, Breinn Richter:  we no longer have a curb painting vendor, do you know someone who can do this?  There is a public meeting 9/26 at Victory Forest Community Center to discuss the upcoming changes to Hemphill, please attend if you would like to contribute your thoughts.  The Board is not supporting the application for variances requested by the proposed CVS Pharmacy at 8th and Rosedale, because the design items they are requesting do not comply with Near Southside guidelines, and there are additional traffic concerns that need addressing.

General Discussion:

There will be a celebration of life for Larry Schuessler at Southside Preservation Hall on 10/3/2018 – all neighbors welcome to attend.

Meeting adjourned: 7:48 pm
