Code Compliance

  • 28 code complaints in the past 30 days
  • Most high grass and illegal dumping
  • Reminder to use MyFW app for code issues
  • If city has to cut high grass, there is a $200 admin charge plus the cost of the labor 
  • Neighbor requested update on substandard building on 5th avenue
  • Another neighbor concerned about the trees blocking the view of traffic at Park and 8th

NPO

  • Sgt. Kiser is Office Bell’s new supervisor
  • Reminder-
    • Lock cars and homes
    • Call 911 for immediate response to issues
      • Provide pertinent details so appropriate response can be sent
      • HOPE team and Crisis Intervention Team is not always available for calls as they have follow ups they must complete. Always call 911.
  • Increase in summer heat usually sees increase in concerns of homeless individuals in neighborhood
  • Spoke with Councilwoman Beck about increased staffing need for next 4th of July, as there was reported property damage from fireworks
  • Working with code on issues of people parking in alleys and yards
  • Police are aware and have responded to the person who was staying with their dog at the dog park
  • Neighbor expressed concern about church food bank traffic on Hemphill, will open dialogue about that

Code Blue Recruitment- Ray Feyen

  • Looking for volunteers
  • Training provided
  • 4 hours per month
  • Patrol areas in neighborhood, report any safety issues to police (do not get directly involved)
  • Next training is in October
  • Must complete app, pass background check, and complete ride along with police

Board Elections in September

  • Call for Volunteers for the nomination committee. 

Community Garden- Suzanne 

  • Looking for fundraising ideas to help with improvement projects for the Garden.

July Softball Game- Kelci Cox

  • Great turn out, lots of fun. Looking for feedback on whether having it before 4th was beneficial.

FNA Social Update- Barbara Crotty

  • August Social has been moved to  August 19th at the home of Chris Moseley and Barry Diehl.
    • 6pm at 1716 Fairmount
    • Bring swimsuits and towels as they have a pool
  • Membership needs help with planning the monthly socials, contact Barbara at membership@historicfairmount.com if you are interested in volunteering. 

Historic Sign Party- Kim Worley

  • At 2pm on 9/16 at 2008 Fairmount. Celebrating historic designation.
  • Community Library will have a lemonade stand to raise money for reopening.
  • State will have speakers presenting and to talk about the house.
  • Lockwood Distillery will have a pop up tasting in the backyard.
  • Live music from 4-8 pm with different genres of music including blues and americana.
  • Bring snacks and chairs. 

Budget- Lauren Wu

  • Any recommended changes to budget for next year
  • Proposed budget will be sent out prior to general meeting and printed copies will be available for review at the meeting

  • Rey- 80th Birthday celebration
    • 5 pm on August 18th at Neighbor’s House 
    • All invited. Refreshments and cake provided. Food available for purchase.
  • Richard-
    • Acknowledged that there have been attempts over the years to save the Berry Theatre on Hemphill
    • Hemphill Corridor Taskforce asking for more people to get involved.
      • Meeting at 2800 Lipscomb at Old Fire station #10 this Thursday
      • Need help with protective zoning initiatives.
