Officer Updates

  • New NPO- Officer Jennifer Bell
    • 15 years with police force
    • Same NPO phone number 817-944-1316
    • Reminders to not leave firearms in your vehicle and to lock your house doors
    • Crime update- individual in area involved in family violence, was incarcerated
  • Code Compliance- new officer but was not in attendance at meeting. More info soon.
  • Deputy Constable Pete Munoz
    • Constable’s office handles civil matters mostly, but some criminal
    • Reach out to the constable’s office to get connected to the crime prevention specialist who can help assess for weaknesses that a criminal may exploit

City Councilwoman Beck

  • City working on train horn “quiet zone” to be implemented in 2024
    • See below for a map of the quiet zone (click to enlarge)
  • Road maintenance project
    • Previous street striping was on an 8-year maintenance schedule, but the product used only had a 3-year lifespan
    • 3-year cycle of restriping is now in effect (1,600 total miles in Fort Worth)
    • Magnolia was the first street to be restriped under this new schedule 
    • If you notice a location where worn striping is causing a safety hazard, email Beck’s office
  • Streetlights
    • Purple lights were defective from vendor and are being replaced at no cost to the city
    • Report any purple lights in the My FW app
    • All streetlights are prioritized for repair
      • If a bulb is out, city will be out within 30 days to replace
      • If the streetlamp is damaged, 30-60 days to repair
        • If streetlamp has damage, email Beck’s office to make it a priority 
  • Jail Diversion Center
    • Councilperson is on the advisory board for the center, as well as one Fairmount resident
    • Only one person has discharged out the front door since the center opened 
  • Forest Park pool
    • Construction underway
    • 50m lap lanes, family friendly areas, bath house
    • Will reopen in 2024
  • Firestation Community Center
    • Being rebuilt as part of 2022 bond projects
  • Short term rentals update
    • Ordinance is to be kept as is
      • Single residential zoned properties cannot operate as Airbnb
      • Operation of a short-term rental can not be tied to owner residency/occupancy
      • Owners can request a zone change
    • Short Term Rentas must register and pay hotel tax
    • Before filing a code complaint in the My FW app for illegal short-term rental operation, be sure to check the zoning for the property as Fairmount has a mix of zoning (One Address and TAD are good resources for this)

    • Finance update- $2,947.66 in checking. $26,368.41 in savings
    • Fairmount/Ryan Place July Softball Game
      • To be held in the evening of July 3rd 
      • Getting lighting in park
    • Home Tour-
      • Tickets are now on sale
      • Volunteers are needed for all HT roles
      • 2021 Garden Tour plaques are being delivered now
  • Austin Reed
    • Bids for flags received- install, maintain, and place in storage
      • Panther City Lighting- $525 per holidays, $2,340 to repair and maintain
      • Motion to approve, seconded. Unanimous vote.
    • Bids for sprinkler at the Green Space
      • Mat’s Lawn care- located in neighborhood. $250
      • Motion to approve, seconded. Unanimous vote.
  • Cowtown Cheer Station
    • Thanks to all who came out and cheered on runners
    • Good turn out by neighborhood
  • Annual Garage Sale
  • January Meeting Minutes approved 
  • Membership
    • 100 active members, a lot have lapsed
    • Reminder that membership is for the calendar year
    • March Social will be held in conjunction with Firestation Community Center’s 100th anniversary party
      • 3/10 from 5-8pm
      • Need volunteers to help
  • Reminder that general membership meetings are held the fourth Monday at Arts Fifth Avenue and board meetings are the second Monday of the month.

Other Business

  • Firestation park will have their grand opening April 29th 
  • Barbara Crotty provided information regarding deceased animal pick up- if it is in the street, contact the city and they will pick it up. If it is on your property you will need to place it in a plastic bag and put it on the curb so the city will pick it up.
