Safety: Steve Voltmann:  publicsafety@historicfairmount.com

  • National Night Out is 10/01/2019. Volunteers will be needed and we are looking for suggestions for food ideas, and are considering making this event an ice cream social for the neighborhood.  Please email Steve if interested in volunteering or if you have ideas for a fun event.

Membership: Deanna Stuart: membership@historicfairmount.com

From Deanna: I have enjoyed getting to know names & faces over the past two years! Best of luck to the new FNA Board!

  • Many thanks to Barbara Crotty who has volunteered to take over welcome packets!
  • WHY BE A MEMBER:  You earn the right to affect how the FNA spends its money and to steer how the FNA influences the neighborhood. Only members get to vote on money, policies, stances, etc.; may be a chairs; and may be board members. The FNA helps the neighborhood with the voice of the membership and with the money raised by the FNA.
  • The FNA membership fiscal year is Jan-Dec NOT one year from purchase date.  Memberships purchased in Nov/Dec are applied to the following year as a courtesy. You can renew or join through the website: historicfairmount.com. Family Memberships = $25 and Individuals = $20.

Administration: Leah Suasnovar: administration@historicfarimount.com

    • We are still looking for someone to fill the position of Director of Administration for the FNA Board.  Please contact me with any questions you may have about this position.

Promotions: Sean Ford: promotions@historicfairmount.com No updates

Infrastructure: Fred Harper infrastructure@historicfairmount.com

Special Voting Item:

    • Motion to approve a one time suspension of bylaws Article XI Section 3: Candidates for Board positions must be “Members in Good Standing” (dues paid 10 days prior) by the date of the election.
It came to our attention that some nominees were not made aware in time of the above rule.  All nominees have paid dues as of 8/23 but not all prior to the 10 days required. With only one nominee running per position, the FNA Board hopes the membership will vote to provide leeway in light of the confusion.

Motion passes with majority voting in favor

Voting Item: Election of Directors

Current Director roles to fill are as follows. Additional nominations may be made from the floor with the consent of the floor nominee, who must be present.

    • Administration – no nominee
    • Communications (1 year interim term) Frances Look
    • Infrastructure – Preston Patry
    • Membership – Choke
    • Promotions – Brian Holland
    • President – Davie Weuste

Since all nominees are unopposed, motion to approve ballot as is, motion passes with majority voting in favor of nominees.

Open discussion for members:

Suzanne Mabe spoke regarding some homeless and loitering issues they are encountering at the Community Garden. Drug paraphernalia has been found in the garden.   The police and NPO have been notified.  Please be aware of this situation and if you see any suspicious activity at the garden, please call 911.

Ramon Romero, who represents District 90 in the Texas House of Representatives spoke to membership about a Preservation Project he is working on that is located at 2237 Hemphill.  It will be a commercial building when he is through restoring the historic building.  He would be glad to come give a legislative update to the group if there is interest, and if you have any questions or concerns call him at 817-233-5819.
