Fairmount National Historic District General Meeting

September 22, 2015

Meeting Called to Order by Pat Bradley – 7p.m.

Introduction of New Members – one new household on Washington – WELCOME!

AGENDA

Neighborhood Police Officer Update – Sergio Guadarrama

  • 1 burglary of habitation on Lipscomb (garage break-in)
  • 5 vehicular burglaries – all vehicles were unlocked. Items taken were of lesser value than those from previous burglaries. (i.e.,) computers/etc seem to be being left out less often
  • 6 thefts – mostly porches
    • Great story of a neighbor giving police a good description of perpetrator immediately upon act. Another neighbor added details. Twenty minutes later a police officer caught the thief with the taken porch items in his truck.
  • Tuesday, October 6: National Night Out Against Crime. 1800 Washington. 6p
    • Recruiting for Code Blue
    • Ride-alongs are still conducted with Code Blue volunteers

Nick Oliver – Forthworthbikesharing.org – 501c3

  • 2.5 years in Fairmount, 4 bike share stations on Magnolia, 18 stations downtown
  • Cruiser-style bikes
  • Membership is $80/yr. unlimited 60-minute trips
  • $8/hr
  • Handed out brochures & maps

Dana Burghoff, Assistant Director of Planning & Development

  • Discussed current FTW zoning issues currently greatly impacting TCU area, but with notable impacts to Fairmount and pockets in north FTW. Discussed the currently proposed definition of Single Housekeeping Unit

BOARD UPDATES

Alex Thieroff – Promotions

  • FNA is no longer able to gift beer at ArtsGoggle
  • Social at DeZavala on Thurs., Sept. 24 from 6-8p
  • Brandon Garrett is this year’s Festivus lead

David Thrapp – Safety

  • National Night Out Against Crime – serving chicken fajitas, bring a side dish

Martin Dahl – Historic Preservation

  • Per board vote, Martin is representing FNA at zoning commission meetings
  • DeZavala School is expanding

 

Carrie Carter – Membership (no update)

Kim Worley – Administration (no update)

Stacy Luecker – Communications (no update)

Roy Neese – Infrastructure (no update)

 

OPEN DISCUSSION

September 29 at 7p: Garden Club Re-launch, 1936 5th Ave.

October 30: Fire Station Fall Festival

October 31: Fairmount Fall Festival at Fairmount Library (family- and pet-friendly)

Saturday Morning Walks: meet at Avoca at 7:30a
