September 14, 2020 FNA Board Meeting

David:

  • No updates on the NPO for the neighborhood
  • Sagebrook wont have a final say until November from the state

Bob Fain (outgoing)

  • Showing where the documents are on the google drive and what they are
  • Talking about what the changes have been as far as the budget line items are
  • Total budget dropped a little over $6000
  • Budget is voted on in October by the general membership

Promotions

  • No real changes from what was done since there was an unusual year with COVID

Safety:

  • Thinking about changes to the National Night Out given the situation with COVID
  • Code Blue has been dormant since COVID
  • Barbara Crotty is reviving conversations on National Night Out
  • Waiting for the new NPO to come in so we can determine how we want the NPO to engage with the community and on community platforms

New Business Promotions:

  • What are we going to do with events that we are not able to hold in person, the holiday party, for example.
  • Need to do a better job about communicating to the community that is a part of the historic overlay
  • Talking about the way to change Festivus for the new situation.
  • Can make events based on quadrants in the neighborhood to control the crowds
  • Looking for a lead sponsor for the GNAR funding and to relaunch home tour.
  • Neighborhood Garage Sale: Cancelled officially

Infrastructure:

  • Hemphill rezoning goes back to the committee
  • Basis for ST4H is that any rezoning would go through a Near southside committee which would include Fairmount representation
  • Motion to submit a letter in support for the Hemphill rezoning task force by Elizabeth and second by Lori. Passed.
  • Letter in support for the genesis project on Magnolia where the old FWISD building used to be. Motion by Preston and second by Regina. Passed.

Communications:

  • Halloween decoration contest times 10 this year.
  • Need ideas for prizes for events
  • Need to get to the point where we can sell ad space on the newsletter again

Preservation:

  • The building where Stir Crazy and Cru are looking to replace windows and doors. They have gone through the right channels and doing it appropriately.
  • House on 1501 Adams is going to be refurbished and is going through the channels to get approvals

Finance:

  • Got the bank address fixed and signatures switched over to Regina.
  • Budget is going to stay the same for now since we don’t know what is going to happen because of COVID. 
  • We are planning for normal business function, but we will follow based on what we actually have in the bank.
