Learn More About: Community Crossroads
- Ken Garlington and Dr. Robyn Michalove attended the meeting to share their mission as neighbors to Fairmount.
- Community Crossroads used to be located in the historic First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth building, which is now Hope Works, but CC is now located on Rosedale just north of the skate park.
- While they started as a church, they really found the community needed outreach and support for low income/ homelessness, so they seek to provide helpful services as well as community for the area. They are not income restricted.
- On Mondays, CC hosts a free dental clinic and are needing dentists and hygienists.
- On Wednesdays, CC hosts a dinner and service at 5PM. There is a worship service with music and a dinner after, followed by additional programming and volunteering.
- CC is also a Cooling Station during the summer on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
- CC will be looking to take part in a potential joint event with the skate park and Fire Station Community Center in the Fall for Dia de los Muertos.
Fairmount Neighborhood Association Look Ahead

- Food trucks and drinks will be available and FNA may have merch being sold.
- Bring a chair to sit, watch, and hang out.
- FNA Board Nominating Committee
- Elections will be in September for the open board positions.
- Positions are for 2 year terms, typically.
- For questions/ applications, you can apply online or ask a board member for more information.
- We will also need 2 general membership volunteers to serve on the nominating committee. This will be a 1 or 2 meeting commitment.
Misc:
- 1600 Washington: The FNA president and historic preservation officers have continued to work with Elizabeth Beck’s office on this to ensure that the developer is not building more than what their zoning allows for.
- Southside Preservation Hall: Follow up note from a previous general meeting earlier this year that the fundraising event that was announced to be planned for September 2025 was put on pause due to transitions on the board.
- Oddfellows: Note that they have a lodge off of Rosedale, near Fairmount, and may be interested in some potential partnerships with FNA.
- DeZavala ES: Due to the discussions around the future closing of the school, FNA has invited the school board representative (Roxanne) for our neighborhood to come speak at our next general meeting in July. The neighborhood has concerns on potential re-use of the historic building as it is not designated itself as a landmark, but it is zoned with a historic overlay due to being in Fairmount, although it is not currently listed as a contributing structure.
