General Membership Meeting

7:00pm –     Call to Order & Introduction of New Members

7:05pm –  NPO Sergio Guadarrama: Neighborhood Updates

7:10pm –     Code Compliance Officer Eric Muhammad: Neighborhood Updates

7:15pm –      Daggett Middle School Junior Cadets & Instructor Dr. Valerie Kitchens: To present on student-led and private industry supported initiatives to revitalize the campus.  Would love letters of support from the FNA and Fairmount neighbors to the FWISD.

7:25pm –     Chad Lorance: To speak on the current and future water supply, flood protection and recreation projects and initiatives of the Tarrant Regional Water District.

  • Voting item: Leah will be presenting information on an FNA community cookbook to be used for both simple enjoyment and fundraising opportunities.  Will ask membership to vote on putting money toward the upfront costs for printing.

  • To provide a presentation of the monthly cases that came through HCLC
  • The next monthly Preservation Palaver is this Wed for those looking to learn about our historic guidelines

  • March 17th Family Social was a HUGE success with about 75 adults and kids! Everyone was excited about more family events. Family Socials will continue on a quarterly basis.
  • Friday, April 13th is an “Adult” Social at Chimera & SiNaCa from 5:30pm-7: 30 pm.
  • No Social in May due to the Fairmount Home Tour.
  • Socials are open to ALL Fairmount residents. We DO highly encourage everyone to join the FNA. Membership dues enable us to provide even more opportunities to mingle.
  • Reminder: FNA Memberships are January – December of each year. If you have not renewed your membership for 2018, please do so through the website: www.historicfairmount.com.  Family Memberships = $25 and Individuals = $20. You can join at any time throughout the year!

  • For those wishing to join Citizens on Patrol to help make our neighborhood and City a safer place to live, there is a class on Saturday, April 14th from 9:00-1:00 at the Hazel Harvey Peace Center. Applications are on the table at the back of the meeting room.

  • Home Tour newsletter deadline is April 1st for ads and articles. These will go out near the end of April. I will have a call out via facebook and the weekly constant contact email for volunteers to help deliver. Home Tour issue goes out to the whole neighborhood.
  • The next kids’ cover art contest is for June’s issue and will be due mid-May. June’s theme is family. Thank you to Fire Station Community Center for getting so many participants for April! Use the contact info above for any submissions.

About Southside Preservation Hall:

Southside Preservation Hall welcomes THOUSANDS of people each year to its facility where they participate in events like Buddy’s Big Band night, Swing dance lessons on Tuesday nights, weddings every week, and more.

 

  • The average attendance for Buddy’s Big Band is 200 at each performance or 2400 people per year!
  • We welcome over 4800 Swing Dancers for Tuesday night lessons each year. (8p-11:30p)
  • We have well over 150 weddings and other events each year!
  • We are making plans to start replacing missing wood windows on the 1922-era three story addition to our building and paving our back parking lot.
