Directors’ Reports

  • Promotions – Alex Theiroff
    • Santa in the Park, Festivus & the Christmas Party were all successes.
    • No neighborhood social in January.
    • Will obtain all Home Tour Planning materials from last year’s leads to share with Robert Wedding, Home Tour Chair 2016.
    • Need to download Festivus and Christmas party receivables from Steve’s phone.
  • Historic Preservation – Martin Dahl
    • From a zoning perspective and with due diligence, the first and sometimes second property lots south of Magnolia can be zoned/used for commercial purposes.
    • 1313 College currently has residential violations regarding changes made to the front yard. These changes would also not be permissible for commercial lots.
    • 1425 5th across from Fairmount Park has been purchased. While the new owner hopes to use the space in some way supporting the community, permitting may be challenging.
    • 1315 S. Adams – new home designs are being reviewed.
  • Communication – Stacy Luecker
    • No report.
  • Administration: Kim Worley
    • No report.
  • Membership: Carrie Carter
    • 30 paid memberships (individual + household) were gathered at the Christmas Party.
    • Membership as a % of total Fairmount households has been static for years. Interested in ways to bolster awareness/enthusiasm. (e.g.,)
      1. Officers may all be given Meeting Announcement Signs.
      2. Officers may be asked to door knock on their blocks with invitations prior to meetings.
      3. Perhaps a “Block Contest” greatest increasing % of membership on a per-block basis. Block wins a party or prize of some type.
  • Finance: Melanie Dotzour
    • On the hunt for a new accountant. In the past, we haven’t paid to have our taxes done, however, we expect we will this year. (This is a budgeted item.)
    • Account totals will be shared at January Member Meeting.
  • Infrastructure: Roy Neese
    • No report.
  • Safety – David Thrapp
    • No report.

Other:

    • Home Tour 2016 meeting on 1/7/16 @ 7p at Robert Wedding’s home.
      1. Many board members are also Wine Down team leads. We will recruit additional leaders at the January meeting and on Constant Contact to help ensure we don’t hamper future succession possibilities.
    • Carrie Carter was drafted as WineDown Lead.
    • Much conversation occurred surrounding how we can best support Sergio Guadarrama (NPO), ideally reinstating his Facebook crime watch rights. (FNA board is full concurrence of working towards Sergio’s reinstatement.) Short-term, Pat will talk with Sergio to fully understand his position with regards to us pursuing this issue with the city.   If we are able to pursue, Pat will begin contacting all of the lead contacts originally named on Facebook plus the mayor, and others.
