December 2022 Neighborhood Newsletter

Greetings Fairmountians from the FNA, your neighborhood association (NOT an HOA!). It exists to support and promote Fairmount as a fun, safe, friendly locale and especially to celebrate our historic homes. The advantage of paying dues (just $20 per individual, $25 per household or business) and becoming a member is that it is easier to be in the know about events and concerns in the hood, and to contribute your talents and opinions to the rest of us. What do we do? For example, in the past the FNA has helped fund and do the research for the county historic survey which eventually led to our historic district designation. This provides long-term protection of the district which was slated to be demolished for medical offices. The FNA purchased the historic-style street lamps for our streets. It has donated to Arts 5th Avenue, helped out the local schools, and supported our local organization for abused women, One Safe Place. The bulk of the budget for helping these organizations comes from our annual Tour of Historic Homes on Mother’s Day weekend.

Annual membership runs from January 1 to December 31. You can join or renew now for 2023. You can also do it in person at any of our meetings or socials.

The holiday party is on Saturday, December 17 at 6 p.m., at Arts 5th Avenue (dinner, drinks and entertainment provided by the FNA, but bring a dessert to share if you’d like.) Please RSVP for this in the Sign-Up Genius you received in your email. Stay tuned for socials in January and February.

Our monthly general membership meetings take place at Arts 5th Avenue, 7-8 p.m., on the fourth Monday of each month, except November and December. Parking is available in the Fifth Ave. Greenhouse lot across the street after 5:00 p.m.
