August 25, 2021 Meeting Minutes

  • New to the area

  • Push to use the MyFortWorth app and it will send to the code officer directly

Code Update:

  • Yucatán will no longer be blowing their trash onto the street from the patio and have been issued a warning

Officer Garner:

  • Updates on the neighborhood
  • Nothing major happening in the neighborhood and have been monitoring Hemphill
  • All happenings have been outside of the neighborhood and have been addressed

Academy 4 (Partnership with DeZavala)

  • 9th year at DeZavala elementary
  • Tailored for 4th graders
  • Provide a mentor ship for every 4th grader 
  • Expanding to other cities outside of Fort Worth
  • Once a month for 90 minutes and is on a volunteer basis
  • 3 hours on campus when volunteering
  • Church anchors the mentorship and provide about half of the volunteers
  • Can sign up at academy4.org
  • Leaders5 will also come back
    • Academy4 alumnus will mentor kindergartners

Regina (Finance)

  • P&L: Income 28637 expense: 24000
  • We are in the green

Preston (Infrastructure)

  • 5th Ave Greenspace sprinklers have a crack
  • $1000 to fix the lines and says they are a result of the freeze 
  • Zoning case:
    • Commission to meet on the 8th
    • Richmond and 6th ave split level duplex
    • Owners want to keep it the same but the city miszoned it as B and needs to go to zone C
    • In order to allow for the renovation of the garage apartments
    • Motion passed to write a letter of support for the zone change

Promotions

  • Nancy
    • Liaison to schools (Artwork)
      • Need to register a booth for the neighborhood
      • Will also display artwork from the kids in the schools
      • Also will have information about the neighborhood and sell memberships
      • Need volunteers to man the booth
      • Money will go to the art department for the schools that get involved

    • Home tour 
    • Income $16791
    • Expenses: $9241
    • Net $7550
    • Next year is the 40th Anniversary of Home Tour

Rachel (Communications)

  • Digital newsletter in September
  • Submissions are still open for the newsletters
  • If you want to sell something then please buy an add and the pricing is on the website
  • Need to be a member in order to get the newsletter

Barbara (Membership)

  • Social 8/24 at Wine Haus
  • 5pm – 9pm
  • First drink will be free to membership
  • Can purchase memberships on site
  • Holiday party
    • Need suggestions for things to do and activities to do during the party
    • Volunteers needed as well
  • New member welcome packets

October 5th is the date for Neighborhood Night Out

Scholarship for single parents wanting to go to college
Fairmount community garden has been asked to take care of the boxes by Stir Crazy

  • keeping the garden open on the weekends
