Officer Updates

  • NPO- Officer Bell
    • Reminder to call 911 for any emergency issues, not the NPO assigned phone line
    • There have been a few break ins of a vacant home in the neighborhood
    • No crime issues associated with the new skate park
  • Code Compliance- Officer Adrian Petella
    • Provided information/handouts about Code Rangers
      • Free 4 hour training 
      • Learn how to identify and report potential code violations
      • Next training is May 20th

    • City of Fort Worth Priority Repair Program
      • Helps homeowners in need of emergency or mechanical system home repairs
      • Up to $5,000. Limited to once every 12 months
      • Income based eligibility
      • Call 817-392-7548 to see if you’re eligible 
    • 99 total violations in neighborhood from March 24- April 24. Mostly high grass, property maintenance, and solid waste.
    • Reminder that Parks and Recs department is in charge of the alley maintenance
  • Community Garden- Suzanne Mabe
    • Thanked FNA for supporting the garden
    • Looking for volunteers to help clean up the public beds or help with the beds at Stir Crazy. Sign up on their website
    • Garden will be open during Home Tour
      • Activities include painting pots and planting flowers
    • Librarian at De Zavala is starting a school garden, so the Community Garden donated plants and seeds
    • Garden t-shirts are for sale
    • Chicken coop is coming down and greenhouse will be built

Board Updates

  • Membership Update- Barbara Crotty
    • June’s social will be a garden party at Michael McDermott’s home
    • Holiday Party in December will be held on a Sunday, so that musician Brad Thompson is able to provide entertainment
  • Finance- Regina Jackman
    • Checking $4,948.30
    • Savings $21,374.60
  • Home Tour Update
    • Need volunteers, especially on Sunday from 2-5
      • Sign up on FNA website
      • Volunteers get a ticket to Home Tour and entry into the Wine Down celebration at Rosen House Inn following Home Tour
    • Board voted to hire 2 off-duty police officers for traffic control on Hemphill
    • Parade line up begins at 9:30AM at Fairmount Park. Parade begins at 10AM
    • Food trucks, artists, and vendors will be at the Fairmount Park on Saturday of Home Tour
  • New General Meeting Signs- Lauren Wu
    • First use of the updated signs was a success as new attendees joined the meeting
  • Infrastructure- Austin Reed
    • Sprinklers are fixed in the green space
    • Gauging interest in volunteers helping with the green space instead of hiring someone to maintain.
      • Email infrastructure@historicfairmount.com if you have a lawn company to recommend or if you would like to volunteer
  • Communications- David Weuste
    • Newsletter delivery- need volunteers to help deliver the 2,100 newsletters throughout neighborhood this weekend

  • March meeting minutes were approved
  • Soma Winery
    • Located at 201 S. Main across from Bearded Lady
    • Change their wine selection every two months- different countries/regions
    • Rent out space for events
    • Serve food such as paninis and charcuterie
      • For events they can do specialty foods as they have in house chef
    • No reservations are needed for wine tasting
    • Live music on Fridays
    • Sommelier wine classes 
    • Open Tuesday through Thursday 4-9, Friday and Saturday 4-10
  • Early Voting
    • Going on now
    • Election day is May 6
    • Reminder about poll locations such as Daggett Elementary School and Southside Community Center
