The 36th annual Fairmount Tour of Historic Homes will be held on Mother’s Day weekend, May 12-13 from noon-6 p.m. both days.
More than 1,500 visitors will gather over Mother’s Day weekend to celebrate the rich architectural history of the largest historic neighborhood in the Southwest region.
This year’s tour will showcase five beautifully restored bungalow-style homes, as well as the Arise Africa USA headquarters stationed in a unique brick building built in 1917 that once served as a grocery store within the neighborhood. Most of the homes on the tour were originally built between 1890-1930, and characteristics include: beamed interior ceilings, colonnades, pocket doors, antique hardware, prominent wide front porches, overhanging eaves, as well as exposed rafters and beams — to name a few.
As a special treat this year Pedego Electric Bikes will be offering guided tours of the home tour houses. Visit www.PedegoFortWorth.com to make your Fairmount Homes eBike Tour reservation.
Attendees will also enjoy a neighborhood parade to kick-off the event, and those looking to grab a bite to eat during the tour can visit one of Magnolia Avenue’s many popular restaurants.
$15 for tickets purchased in advance at www.historicfairmount.com; or $20 for tickets purchased on the day-of at the Welcome Pavilion located at SiNaCa Studios at 1013 W. Magnolia Avenue. Tickets may be purchased or picked up here, and a map and information will be provided. T-shirts and posters will also be available for purchase.
Proceeds from the tour will benefit the Fairmount Neighborhood Association, a 501(c)(3) organization, and its mission to preserve, restore, and maintain the Fairmount neighborhood and surrounding historic district.
