Festivus decorating winners announced

Fairmount’s annual Festivus was held Dec. 12. This was the third year for this fun event which included a bus tour of holiday decorated bungalows, refreshments, live music, carolers, Santa, cookie decorating and more! Many neighbors in the Fairmount neighborhood offered up unique displays just for the night of the event including a live nativity, dancing Christmas trees, a scene depicting characters from the Nightmare Before Christmas and more.

The event also collected toys which were donated to One Safe Place.

We are also happy to announce the winners of this year’s Fairmount Festivus! A block party is awarded to the residents at 6th Avenue and Park Place. The displays included a live nativity at the historic Benton house and the Nightmare Before Christmas. Individual winners are FIRST – Leah and Desi Suasnovar at 1422 6th Ave.; SECOND Rachael and Matthew Garnett at 1514 6th Ave.; THIRD – Thomas and Davina 1933 6th Ave. Congratulations to these great Festivus displays and THANK YOU to everyone who decorated, volunteered and participated in this year’s event! We are looking forward to next year.
