Do your part to pick up litter

Litter is prevalent here in Fairmount. We live in an urban neighborhood, surrounded by many businesses and busy streets. Litter blows in from Hemphill, 8th Avenue, and Rosedale. People throw trash out of their cars and kids in neighborhood schools throw trash on the ground. Here are some things you can do to mitigate our litter situation:
- Take Reverse Litter’s Ten on Tuesday pledge where you pledge to pick up 10 pieces of litter on Tuesdays
- Educate your children to not throw litter on the ground
- Bring your own bag to the store so you don’t have to take plastic bags; these bags can escape into the wild and become urban tumbleweeds
- Reduce, reuse, recycle – generating less trash means less trash out in the environment
- Take part in the Trinity Trash Bash and Cowtown Cleanup
