See distributed minutes for FNA Board updates.
Additional updates:
Home Tour is coming up May 11&12, 2019. (Mother’s Day weekend). We need a
volunteer for set up and tear down, this person will need a truck. This volunteer will
need to coordinate with other volunteers to put up flags throughout the
neighborhood, deliver podiums to homes, make table and chair deliveries to homes,
and then pick these items up from participating homes. Email the home tour
coordinator, Julie Mathis, at hometour@historicfairmount.com
to volunteer. Perks for volunteering include a ticket to the Wine Down celebration for all volunteers, and
one ticket to attend the tour for every shift worked. If you would like to docent at a
home, those shifts are from 11:30-3:00, and 2:30-6:00. Volunteers are important as
this is the neighborhoods biggest fundraiser.
The current Director of Communications has stepped down from their position, and
there will not be a monthly printed newsletter. Serena Keeler has volunteered to
produce the Home Tour edition, which will be distributed to all homes in the
Fairmount neighborhood. If you want to volunteer to assist Serena with the
newsletter, she could use assistance obtaining advertising sponsors and with
content.
Neighbor update:
the city is finally addressing the severe flooding at 6th and Arlington. A broken drain pipe appears to be contributing to this problem, and the
city plans on making repairs in September.
Park Updates: Fairmount Park improvements will be completed in two phases. You
should see new benches, a water station (for humans and pets!), and new path, and
dog waste station in April. There is a plan for a “native/pollinator garden” that will
be installed at a later date. The plants will need to be maintained by volunteers
after installation.
March 30th is the date for the Cowtown cleanup, we will be seeking volunteers to
help clean up the neighborhood, look for details soon.
Preservation update: reminder that any exterior work on your home requires a
COA. Contractors are costing the City thousands of dollars in man hours and legal
fees by not following proper procedures in completing work in our neighborhood.
Please contact Tiffany Taylor at the City of Fort Worth with any questions.
Martin Dahl will be hosting a Preservation Palaver at the Fairmount Community
Library 2/27/2019 at 7:00 pm. You will have the opportunity to ask Martin questions
regarding any work you would like to do to your home.
