FNA Board Meeting Minutes, 10/2/2017

Present: Geri Cotton, Susan Harper, Betty Spitzberg, Breinn Richter, Deanna Stuart, Melanie Dotzour, Leah Suasnovar, and Sara Karashin by phone

Proceedings:

Meeting called to order by Deanna Stuart at 7:09 pm.

Last month’s meeting minutes approved.

Discussion:

  • Determined that placement of meeting signs would stay in the area of responsibility of

Promotions.

  • Neighborhood PTA’s should be moved under responsibility of Infrastructure, and this area of

responsibility will be named “School PTA’s and Special Projects” moving forward.

  • Consideration of a Fairmount/Ryan Place Monarch Weigh station, a new initiative encouraged

by Mayor Price, to encourage planting of habitat of Monarch butterfly in neighborhood, Board

would like to proceed in learning more about this project

Finance Report:

  • Storage bill fee is currently $53/monthly. We will pay 3 months in advance right now, but work

on plans of moving items out of the Bastion storage area and obtaining a single larger storage

unit for all our items, and at the same time complete a list of stored items.

  • Discussed the need for producing and printing and Standards and Guidelines for all area

realtors, or for any Fairmount home on the market. Do we need to consider a printing budget

for this project? Best way to introduce S&G to realtors?

  • Notice needs to be sent to neighborhood that budget has been voted on and will be presented

at October general meeting, if residents have budget needs these will need to be sent to the

Board in January for consideration. Approved budget shall be made public 7 days prior to

general meeting to give membership time to review, consider and ask questions.

Administration Report:

  • It is decided each board members shall print and bring their own agendas to meetings once

Sarah completes them

  • We shall post the approved minutes to the Fairmount Website, which will then be shared to the

official Fairmount National Historic District Facebook page, and then shared to the Fairmount

Neighborhood Facebook page.

Infrastructure Report:

  • Confident that we will receive funds needed for Firestation Community Center.
  • Attended the Bluebonnet Hills neighborhood meeting to get more information regarding

parking permit program, will be planning an event to discuss plan details with affected

neighbors

  • There will be a meeting on 10/18 at 5:30 at Firestation Community Center to discuss the

restriping of Allen Ave, from Evans to Lipscomb, residents encouraged to attend to learn more

about project

  • 1725 S. Adams cited again for trash/debris/cars; 10/12 residence will be inspected again for

infractions

Membership Report:

  • Continuing to work on consolidating/organizing membership list and a system for notifying

residents of expiring memberships.

  • New Neighbor packets have been distributed by volunteers
  • Nathan Spitzberg will continue to manage socials through the end of 2017, but a chair for that

committee will be needed for 2018.

  • Holiday Party plans progressing, resident created invitation, workikgn on quotes for food,

looking for ideas for activities and decorations

  • Looking at doing a proper membership drive in 2018 to encourage more residents to join

Association

  • Reminder that Board members need to plan to attend FNA events, such as socials
  • Encourage volunteers from throughout the neighborhood

Promotions Report:

  • Need flyers for Fairmount booth at Arts Goggle
  • Need volunteers for Arts Goggle, recommended two hours shifts, refreshments provided
  • Block Party is 10/14, Christmas Party is 12/8, and Festivus planned for 12/12.

Preservation Report:

  • Will have Justin on Agenda of member meeting to go over possible HCLC changes

Public Safety Report:

  • Bumping Neighborhood watch program presentation to January member meeting to allow for

HCLC discussion

Communications Report:

  • Proposed that FNA to sponsor a YOTM prize for Mounti Gras, which was discussed and voted

against at this time

  • Gifts for outgoing Board Members discussed
  • Need to obtain bids for green space maintenance
  • Don’t forget to submit articles for newsletter
